Temp maintenance

I figured this would be handy, this is what i got for a set up. im expirimenting with the heat lamp now and getting some good results, I used to not use it at all. the partially sealed top helps a lot. but that is a good point about the walnut bark getting stuck in his heat pits.but they seem somewhat big to get stuck in there in the first place... I will keep an eye out for something better. but right now this subtrate combo helps with humidity and temp much better than the carpet I had earlier (see avatar). Thanks for the input!

There are quite a few alternative beddings that will help with humidity - their specific names escape me though i think one was "bed -a -beast".

Perhaps someone could provide the names for me?


Also as a side point I would try and keep the material a good distance away from the heat lamps - they get very warm when in use but should something go wrong then their is obviously the danger or sparks.

Probably never happen but I find it is always best to plan for the worst while hoping for the best.

There are a few other things you might want to search the forums on - hides for example are recomended to be identicle to prevent security and thermoregulation being conflicting drives. There are some really good threads on budget hides and cage decorations for you to look at if your stuck for ideas.

How are the temperatures when the heatbulb is on compared to off?
