You do not want to overhandle your snake. Thirty minutes a day, except on feeding day and the 48 hours after feeding are a good rule of thumb.

Your snake merely tolerates handling, handling is purely for the enjoyment of the owner, it's not something that your snake looks forward to with breathless anticipation. :P Respect their limits.

Usually a snake with his neck in a "S" shape can be one sign of a snake about to tell you that they don't want to be bothered. I usually just lightly touch the top of their head with the bottom of a water bottle, which causes them to duck their head and I proceed to pick them up.

Twenty gallon is too overwhelming for a baby - a 10 gallon is perfect.

You'll need an enclosure, a UTH (undertank heater), a quality thermostat (the thermostat will be about $75) to make sure the UTH doesn't overheat and to get your temps stable, two snug hides, water dish, digital thermometer.

I personally set up my babies in 15 quart tubs.

Here's the digital thermometer/hygrometer you can pick up at Walmart for $12 - don't waste your money on the stick on dials that the pet store sells - they are notorious for being inaccurate.

Thanks for the assistance. I think im going to wait until i finish my exams at the beginning of next week before i get it. So that my new friend doesnt distract me from them, even though it already partially has considering i keep thinking about it and checking and making sure i have a good idea what Im doing once i get him.
