Personally I would still move the probe inside the hide assuming your snake will spend most of its time there - the temp inside is the most important.

As for the CHE I would just get the smallest one available (I forget the wattage) you will need to buy a fixture for it as well (looks like a light dome...it will be sold right next to the CHE usually) It will sit on the top of the cage and project heat down into the cage. Yes keep the UTH just don't put the CHE directly over where teh UTH is...closer to the cool side (this will also help raise the cool side temps up)

Don't forget a thermostat or reostat to control the UTH and CHE.

Looking good by the way. :)

You will need to play with its location and that is how you can adjust the temps. You can also raise it off the top if it becomes to hot in the tank (hanging above the cage like it was on a light pole - this will also help so you don't have to put it on a Thermostat). The UTH must be on a Thermostat.

A thermostat is electronic - you set the temp on a display and then when the unit turns the heating device on/off to maintain the temp (more expensive but more accurate)

A reostat is just rotary switch that you turn to adjust the power to the heating device so it takes some "playing" with to get it exactly where you want it (cheaper by a lot but not as accurate)

Just a choice based on your finances. :)

sorry about that i erased half of the messge :) I wanted to know how to place the probe in the hide because when i close the lid it goes on the cord and i didnt kno if these could affect the reading?
Also here are the pics that i just took (the reading are off because i had to take the thrermometer out of the tank.

If it was me...I would take a small file and file down a groove where the cord comes into the hide so it doesn't get pinched.

Also, I would remove the sticky stuff on the end of the probe...just so it doesn't accidently get stuck to your snake (then just bury the probe)

Also, I suggest you shrink your pictures down they are blowing out the sites formatting. :)
