Re: My Other Hobby. *DUW*
Are there any particularly rare Mason jars? I know of a basement that is loaded with them.. unfortunately, they are all full of food that was there since the 1980s.. some of it even looks good! (not that I would eat it..)
I have a few bottles I found out back in the woods right at home here. If I had my camera, I'd take a few shots.. might take a couple days.

I have one jar marked "Atlas E-Z Seal". Apparently it is quite valuable according to ebay!

The story goes that back in the day moonshiners would break all the #13 jars because they were thought to be bad luck...So that means today there are very few of the #13 jars compared to other #'s
I have one and my Dad has a few #13's

Very cool little bottle, you can tell it has some age on it from all the bubbles in the glass.

Gorgeous collection! I have a very small collection of bottles packed carefully in my parents basement back in IN. I too would love to see photos from other people's collections!

I will get pics of the G13.. that is such a cool background story about the moonshine! This place was definately a still back in the day.. this jar I found was part of a bunch I found with food still in them.. how would you recommend cleaning them out? They have ancient green beans/corn/etc. and I am not looking forward to smelling what might come out, but though it is some years old, it honestly looks edible!
Re: My Other Hobby. *DUW*
I would take a deep breath and dump the contents in the trash, then put the jar into a bucket with warm water and either dish soap or powder laundry detergent and let it soak for 24 hours. Ive never cleaned out old food but I have cleaned out 60 year old cough syrup and ink, and let me tell you that stuff STINKS.
