It is either a scrub python, or an Olive python.

ANd that is a kangaroo or a wallabee! Deffanatly no cow.

Probably a rock wallabee, or a wallaroo not a kangaroo. The olive was probably sitting on the ledge and the and the rock wallabee came bounding by and got grabbed. The struggle probably dropped partially into the water and now the snake had to pull the prey back up to feed. But thats just the way i see it.

Can that thing actually eat the wallaby/kangaroo/creature?! It's HUGE! I dont see how the snake could move after a meal like that. But then, I'm no expert in large snakes.

That pic was taken in Wester Australia, it's an Olive Python, one of the larger varieties (there are 3 depending on area), and it's disputed whether that's a small kangaroo or a fully grown wallaby that it's pulling out of the water. My father in law has an Olive, they're gorgeous snakes, if you google images for Olive Pythons you'll see the same one, this leads to the story behind it.

It's definately not a kangaroo. That is a beautiful snake though, wow. Now I think I found my next species of snake I am going to get sooner or later.

it is an olive for sure... I can only guess that it is a wallaby - but the snake, for sure is an olive - Liasis olivaceus - and a big one at that.

For the poster above that asked if the olive can actually eat prey that size, yes - yes it can.
