If you have loose substrate, a flat hide can be just as appealing to a ball :)

my boy enjoys plates and things...he digs out the substrate to his liking, and you find him sprawled out under the dish happy as a clam. Wal-mart garden department, 87 cents :D

I also have a humid hide that is a heavy rock-looking thing. I found that if I put some wadded-up paper towels in there to take up space he really digs that hide too :) it only works if the hide is heavy enough to contain the paper towel wads securely so he can press up against them.

HEY Frog, you stole my hide! No, really, I found the same exact hide on consignment at my friend's store; I bought it, disinfected it, and now SoCo loves the thing :D And here I thought it was oke-of-a-kind, lol..

My hides fit my kiddos like that, only since mine are plastic bowls, they tend to sit on top of the snakes when they start to get to the "almost too big" thresh-hold. Wish I could find some heavier ones like yours that they could actually cram into instead of wearing them!

I agree with the tighter the better, but im about to show you the Ball pythons most favorite hide in the whole world.

You can find these in all shapes and sizes

In the wild they use rodent burrows and termite hills, both of which have holes ontop and they crawl downward, use the clay ones.
