[QUOTE=mlededee] baby food is high in sugar which is not good for cresteds and also throws off the balance of the cgd--this balance is crucial so you don't want to mess with it if at all possible.

I have some different ideas about this, in the wild of New Caledonia crested geckos are very rare. but a group of researchers found that a reliable way of finding these geckos was to search under fruit trees with fallen fruit and they would find these geckos eating the over ripened fruit on the ground. so I dont believe that sugar is a concern, I feed my cresties fruit or baby food often and they seem to be fat and growing good and reproduceing well. I mix the chopped fruit or baby food in with the CGD. works for me. :P

Im sure that everyone has many different ideas and let us know what works for you. :)

natural sugar that comes from fruit is fine (feeding fresh fruits is great), it's the sugar that is added to most baby foods that is not. there are organic baby foods that don't have any sugar added, and by itself as a treat that is probably fine. however, the crested gecko diet was made to be fed alone, with nothing added but water. adding anything to it throws off the balance that was developed to be just right for cresteds.
