    Congrats!

My only advice is to sleep as much as you can and spend your waking hours with your wife! Your relationship changes with kids, you have to take crayons and whatnot with you. :D

hahahaha just re-read that. i didn't mean you would cease to be a person i meant you would cease to have your individuality like you do when you are not a parent. you will forever be a dad.

    congrats to you both!

    Haha!

Thanks for the advice everyone, luckily, I have insomnia and only sleep 2 hours a night on average, 4 if I'm exhausted! So that'll be fine.

I'm in that helpless phase right now. She's nauseous, grumpy, and generally angry at everyone, and it seems to be directed at me, and I feel helpless because there's nothing I can do to make her feel better.

I have been doing everything I can to make things easy on her, driving her to/from work, making all her food for her (although I already did that!) and am just overall letting comments go that normally I'd complain about and I just mark them down to the pregnancy blues (aka grumpy) hehe

Thanks for all the comments though!

Oh and if you guys wanna have a BP.Net baby shower for us, you can send us snakes, racks, thermostats ;) hehehe

All perfectly normal reactions to the hormonal changes we women go through especially in those first 3 months. Generally by month 4 everything is pretty much smoothed out and won't get difficult again until those last very long few weeks before birth. If you feel helpless think how helpless she feels...even a very wanted baby does bizarre things to our bodies and emotions and there's not a thing we can do about it. It can be very hard for a woman to adjust to the first time through the process.

    Basically it goes like this...

Those first few months you feel like crap and just not like yourself but you don't look preggie yet so you feel a bit stupid about it and awfully tired and whiney. Folks tend to forget you are growing a new life since you basically don't look different yet.

Then you go through the "just looks fat" stage. Us women hate this stage LOL. You look more chubby than pregnant. These weeks suck and your wife is likely to be a bit put out when she can't fit into her regular clothes but is too small really for maternity wear.

Finally the belly blossoms and you look preggie and usually get tons of attention. This is a great thing...the downside is you start worrying the hubby won't find you attractive anymore and at some point you won't be able to shave your own legs (yes we females worry about hairy legs in the delivery room...deal with it boys! LOL)

Then comes the "have to pee every 2 minutes months". Never tell her you can't stop the car at the nearest bathroom LOL. If you had a future linebacker bouncing on your left kidney, you'd understand this is a major concern of women in their last months of pregnancy. Be a good hubby, know where all the bathrooms are. :)

Finally there's the countdown to delivery days. Saying things like "are you EVER going to have this baby" and making any joke that references a whale are less than appreciated. Saying "gee honey I hope you don't deliver during the playoffs" may get a frying pan lobbed at your head. Never tease a heavily preggo female, she will make note of this and the chances that you will hear about your being an idiot male for the next 10 years are very, VERY good.

Delivery....be prepared to get cussed at, told you will NEVER get near her again, and that this is ALL YOUR FAULT. Standard and proper answer is..."yes dear, I'm a pig, please forgive me". :P

Thankfully all these changes result in the prettiest baby ever born and you will both fall deeply in love with the little one. You'll never know a feeling like that first rush of love for the child you've created and in a moment all the stress of pregnancy is gone, the pain of delivery is nothing and you are parents.

    Congratulations!

P.S. Her butt will get bigger during the pregnancy...you are NOT to notice this...if she asks be a smart guy and tell her she's still got the best butt in town...if you are silly enough to actually tell her the truth I'll come hold you down while she smacks the smart back into you! LMAO

    Re: Pregnant!
She already has a tiny bladder so I'm used to stopping the car often for bathroom breaks.

Secondly, you bring up a valid point. We haven't been to our first appointment but we think she got pregnant in febuary/march so the baby should be due late novemeber to december......playoffs will be near...is a tv in the delivery room off limits? ;)

Also the butt thing, I think she does have the best in town so no lying! Woot. Also, if it gets bigger, that can only be a good thing ;)

Crazy thing is our natural childbirth room at the hospital not only had a very nice CD sound system but cable tv! Since I was due to deliver our youngest right in the middle of the Detroit Red Wings playoffs I did notice Mike eyeing that tv (and I sure gave him an "eye" back let me tell ya LOL).

Actually being a good Canadian born wife, therefore knowing that hockey is second only to God, I managed to pop Mikey out between games and we didn't miss a one of them. Mikey actually watched his first hockey game on tv in his father's arms at about 36 hours old. :)

    ginger tea!

that was my life saver.... ginger tea. get some organic ginger root from the grocery store... cut off a small chunk and slice it up small... add hot water and put it in a travel mug. let her carry it with her everywhere. one little sip (maybe two) will remove/reduce the nausea. doesn't matter that it's gone cold... still works just as well.

this was my saving grace in those first months.

(and a good thing to know... the stronger the nausea the less chance of miscarriage... although telling her that while she's nauseated will NOT make her feel better LOL) (of course that doesn't mean no nausea means a miscarriage.)

She doesn't like ginger, then again maybe we'll give it a shot! She loves sushi and she cant have it for two reasons, one...i wont let her have anything raw, and two even the stuff that isn't raw, makes her feel sick when she eats it :(

I used to grow my own herbs and I know pepermint cures nausia so although we dont have fresh pepermint around the house, sucking on perpermints have been helping her.

That and being angry at me seems to help ;)
