Schnookums, we think, had a pre-existing condition like a parasite or something. He wouldn't eat and starved himself. He was one of those foreign-captured snakes. I didn't know that when I bought him.
Smeagol's cage temps are pretty good... I checked with all sorts of online and book sources. I think the RI was probably just a reaction to the change in locale. I just got him a couple weeks ago, and I understand that BP's are rather perceptive to changes. His next injection is tomorrow, and he's currently curled and sleeping in my shirt.
For further reference, he's in a 30-gallon tank with an under-tank heater and a hot lamp. There are two thermometers in there and day temps are currently 90 in the basking spot and 80 in his hidey-hole. Night temps are 80-70.

I think your temps are getting too low, and you need two hides :)
