Re: Stupid question about adult boas and smaller pets. Help, please...?
I keep the cat out of the rooms where I keep my inverts and my reptiles. She can't resist trying to play with any of them. A few times she's snuck into the room and managed to knock a cage over. So far everybody's been ok.
Re: Stupid question about adult boas and smaller pets. Help, please...?
we have a dog and tons of birds and havent had probs at all wtih our boas. we already had the birds and dog when we got the boas so their smells were already all over the place, including on us. our boas have never stuck us. but, dont stick their mice in front of them and expect them to not strike. they definately know the difference between us, the dog and bird smells, and their food.
that being said, i would never trust ANY of my animals to be out of their cages together unattended. we try to only let one type of animal out at a time to play with us to make sure everyone is safe. its just not worth the risk, letting diff animals play together, you never know what might happen. im much more worried about the dog hurting the snakes than the snakes hurting the dog though......and im sure the birds are scared of the snakes, i let the birds look at the snakes while they were slithering around in their cage, and the birds hissed at them or tried to get away from them.
and the golden rule...always wash your hands before and after handling any animal to prevent the possible transmission of diseases, and just to get rid of any funky smells that might freak the animals out....
