"In" on the thermometer is the temp that is read on the actual unit(You usually have it stuck inside your house somewhere). "Out" is the temp the probe is reading(as you usually run that outside to read those temps).

"Min" or "Minimum" is the lowest temp the thermometer has read that day or within a couple hours. "In" and "Out" both have a Minimum. "Clear" clears these settings out just in case you need to know if your temps are fluctuating.

"Max" or "Maximum" is the same thing as minimum, but on the high end temp range. Reads the highest temp the thermometer has picked up.

On your thermometer, it should read from top to bottom: In, Out, Humidity. I usually keep the thermometer itself on the cool end and run the probe over to the warm side hide and tuck it up under there, to read where the snake is actually at. OR you could be really anal retentive and get a second thermometer unit and velcro both units to opposite sides of the enclosure(about halfway up to measure air temps), and run the probes under each corresponding hide.

But anywho, that's about how it goes :)
