    i used similar tubs and at first they were fine, but then the rats discovered that they could chew the edges where i cut out a rectangle and covered it with wire mesh. they would chew it right around the wire until there was a hole big enough for them to get out. the tubs that you are using look like they may be taller though so it may not be a problem.

    what kind of bedding are you using? it is a mixture of different things? some of it looks really fine and kinda dusty.

    it is kind of an aspen mix. but i plan on going with straight aspen in the next week or so.

    Are you taking the preggo females out?...Or are you having them deliver in the 1.5 tubs?

    i have 3 tubs set up that i put females in right before they are about to birth. i have had them have them in the 1.5 with few problems. but every know and then you will check on a new born litter in a 1.5 and all the babies are gone. not cool. so that is why now i have birthing tubs.
