wow, thanks for the help...i checked out the site...is there anyway i can by less mice/rats? or do i have to buy in bulk always?

Hm.. a weird smell and lots of flies could mean spoiled feed and fruit flies.. or worse, dirty cages. Cages should never get so bad that there are flies feeding/breeding in them.. I think you're right to not want to buy from them again.
