People think you have to crank the nut and the saddle blocks down like there's no tomorrow. But just snug is all you need. Plus when screws ect get worn out your guitar gets all out of whack and then you got bigger problems.

"That cracking noise lets you know it's workin!"

How many warmoth necks had to replace the results of such folly I cannot say.

For a good acoustic I would go with a Crafter acoustic/eletric or a Taylor. Crafter makes a great, reasonably priced guitar and Taylor gets it done every time (not to mention they are played by one of my favorites, Dave Matthews). Good luck!

My husband bought 2 guitars this week...an Alvarez AD60CK Acoustic Electric for $489

and a Radiator by Godin. Look at the pearl pickguard...my favorite part! It was $250.

I started on a Vantage Avenger. It was a great, solid electric in a Strat shape but with pointed horns.. it was an awesome guitar. I sold it to upgrade to a Gibson Les Paul 2001 red sunburst that I sadly had to sell during a financial upheaval time in my life. The Vantage was super for a biginning elec. guitar.
I like necks that are shiny-varnished for beginners, as well as those that have very light fret action. It hurts to have to clamp really hard down on strings that are a mile away from the wood of the neck. But I am a little biased here, since my hands are smaller than most people (My engagement ring is a size 4!)
If you want to spend slightly more than some starters, Jackson is awesome. Mark had a stunning Jackson that was just one of the best guitars I ever fingered.
Vintage amps are my thing! I have an old 60's Fender Bantam Bass amp.. the thing KICKS. Here's a pic..

His is a B.C. Rich KKV ... His is the best version you can get before going for an American made one.

I figured if anyone would know that, it'd be you lol.
Note how they put the authentic stickers on the guitars? At least I think they're authentic.. let me Google some Slayer pics..
