Re: Sugar Gliders Anyone?
Sugar Gliders are AWSOME, you should definatly get some. Our two will constantly play when the lights go off and will play until they come back on. Amazing little critters!

Ah suggies... great cute critters. Messy, loud and smelly critters.
I had four at one time, two different bonded pairs. I fed BML with extra mealie treats. I got a small purse that I used as a pouch for carrying them around in during our bonding period.
Do be prepared for the biting. People tend only to tell you about the good things but there are a lot of cons to owning sugar gliders which is why I see so many on craiglist. Now true, I started out with adult pairs that hadn't had many positive people experiences but even my friends that started with joey pairs had to take quite a few bites.
They are messy, very messy. I cleaned my cage every other day to keep it looking good and smelling good. And for all means do NOT put them where you sleep. They tend to bark at night, kinda cute except when you can't fall asleep because of it. This brings us to the fact that you should have a few hours of evening time to spend with them, they are nocturnal. The more time you spend with them the more bonded to you they will become. The tent idea earlier was great, I got mine at a yard sale and they LOVED it. I just really hope you don't mind getting pee'd on or poo'd on.
SugarGlider.net is an amazing site, I was an active member there until I had to rehome my babies, luckily a dear friend of mine played with them nearly as much as I so they quite happily bonded with her.
Good luck!!

Re: Sugar Gliders Anyone?
I have a very obssessive personality! Most things I pick up I drop again, but when things stick they stick like super glue! I love knitting and crocheting...it's a spastic passion, I hardly ever read anymore and that has been my constant escape my whole life (my husband just bought me a book I had been wanting for Valentine's Day to help stop my "carpal tunnel" from setting in!).
That being said, I really want my little joey's! But I'm trying to do this right. I'm working on getting set up for the little ones as birthday presents and waiting until we pay our credit card down..by a lot...so I'm probably looking at six months or so...On the bright side I keep finding ways to make toys through various websites and get to read up on all the diets and make my choice.
Good advice about the tent! I've read it in a lot of places it really speeds up the bonding time. I figure I can knit and they can play while in the tent...not weird at all! Thanks for all the support!
...and Cue...I never would have pegged you for a glider owner! Why did you give yours up? or did they pass?
Jo - give me some time...I'll just have to make some adjustments on my sock patterns!

I've been reading a lot about the mess, I found a couple of really good ideas about using little "eat in" kitchens. Basically use some sort of rubbermaid craft box with holes already in it and place the food underneath them. The gliders climb in and trash that immediate area. Also, I've read a lot that with proper diet and not over cleaning (clean the cage one week and the next clean the pouches) the odor can be somewhat better. I did have a girl before and she really wasn't smelly. I'm really looking forward to pouch time and play time. I have heard of some gliders referred to as "pit bull" biters since their bit was sooo hard (not to offend our pitts out there! Some of the sweetest big dogs I've met are pitts).
Thanks for the warnings and advice. I think I'm taking this slow enough I can always back sometime in the next six months before I actually place deposits on any gliders!

I totally agree! They are VERY messy, and yes they do, and will bite. Does the bite hurt? Of course it does, but as with any animal, there are far more pros than cons of owning and raising sugar gliders. I'm sure you will love them!
