the fridge idea will work good, any sturdy wooden box, chest, small closet will work also. after losing my closet, i got this storage closet and hooked it up

Now, do you have to drain the freon, or have it drained, before use?
We have a small closet that I thought of using (used to do hydroponic gardening in it) but it is too large for now to be practical to heat.. now a few years down the road when we have more females breeding.. :)

I completely stripped mine only because its' only use will be a bator. It did work but I also needed to cut weight on it so I can make it more manageable if I ever have to move it myself. If I were you and you would use it as a fridge, then keep it whole. As far as freon goes, when I cut the line I could hear a gas coming out but saw no liquids when I dumped everything. So I can't help you there. Wasn't there someone a few months ago who got a wine cooler and was on the line about what to do about freon?
