Well, a few years ago I bought a bellydancing instructional DVD--I've always been interested in taking lessons, but there isn't really anywhere near where I live that offers lessons.

When I moved out to Eastern MA for school, one of the grad students here had been taking lessons for awhile and she taught "Bellydancing for Beginners" at the gym one night a week. I jumped at the chance and it -really- was a lot of fun. It's very empowering and it makes you feel really good about yourself (until you end up on YouTube ;)).

Our instructor graduated that Spring, though...so no bellydancing classes for me since. Though, I suppose being so close to Boston, I could find an actual class if I had the money to do so :)

Seriously, if you can find a place to take classes, I'd suggest it. Bellydance is amazing--it doesn't discriminate. It's about a woman's body in a very positive way...it doesn't matter if you're thin or fat or what the color of your skin is. Just very awesome.

You know, I actually have been talking about taking a class, I know there are several in my area. I may just go ahead and find one to start, I really did like your youtube.
I've already got a great outfit for it, too!

That brings me back... I went to an international school with 200 students representing 91 countries. Every year we'd do a big show exhibiting different dances, songs, music, etc from around the globe. Didn't hurt that we were all 17-19... what a great age :)

Aleesha (Recycling Goddess) does belly dancing as well. I'd love to see a video of her, too! It really does look like a lot of fun and great exercise....I might like to try that someday, too... (I'll bet my hubby wouldn't even mind paying for it... :P )
