The thing about BCC is they're pretty slow growers. I have a 2 year old that's about 4-5' long.. that might sound pretty big, but it's really not. I've got a male that's about 3 or 4 and he's around 5' too, but he's not really heavy bodied. I wouldn't classify him as a 'big snake'

The thing is.. if the surinam BCC is what you REALLY like, go for it. No sense settling for second choice.. if you ask me. :)

Since I love to share pictures I'll show you my surinames.

    Beautiful!
No 4 or 5 feet sounds fine its just if he gets bigger than 7 or 8 feet but if that takes 4 or 5 years thats fine.
    Thanks for the help again

It does take that long for them to reach 7-8'.. and some males don't get that big either.

    What if you live alone?

"Oh crap I'm being strangled by my Surinam boa!" isn't exactly something you want to hear, especially if there's no one around. :P

Well, I've never heard of anyone being strangled by a red tail.. not that it couldn't happen, it's just more common to hear of the giant pythons doing those sort of things. lol

It is good to have a 'snake buddy' to come help you on cage cleaning days/feeding days when you have larger snakes.
