i use hot water in a bowl. when it cools (or at the 5 minute mark) i dump out the water and add more hot. after another 5 minutes i dump the water again and refill.

how i start feeding. i take the prey item out of the water, towel it dry lightly and drop it into the enclosure.

and if you want to be safe... make sure you use tongs!

Not true. I used to thaw out 2 XL rats every 10 days for 2 boas and it took about 45 mins to thaw out completely while being in hot water

Did you put them in a bag or toss them in? What was the temp of the water?

As my post indicated "warm water" not scalding hot, and I used bags (which I forgot to mention) which further reducing the temperature reaching the rats themselves.

Kind of a bold statement to say "not true", and then counter it with something I never even said. ;)

Now that would certainly take a lot less longer than my lazy method... fill it up once and wait. Why procrastinate tomorrow when you can do it today.

not scalding hot. I am talking bath water here. Straight from the faucet in my tub. And yes, they were in bags. I have never had a rat take anymore than an hour to defrost using this method

I leave my mice/rats out before i go to work in a sandwich box , and when i get home there defrosted nicely , i then warm them up in a bowl of warm water for around 10 minutes , dry em off and chuck em in , i have to use tongs with my royal , that way he grabs them in a instanst .
Bindi eats the same way shes a greedy mare lol
