Sammy as a singer kills David. However DLR is a way better frontman then Sammy ever will be.

I've never seen them, but I was in high school when they were in their heyday. Back then, the story (from my buddies who did go see them) was that there were no live albums because David was always drunk and off key during the performances, but that the concerts were such a great party that it really didn't matter.
I have a lot of bootlegs and Dave sounds great. I have one bootleg that I think is one of the best live albums I've ever heard.

Perhaps, although I have never been a huge fan of Sammy. No argument here as to who the better frontman is. My problem with the Van Hagar era is that Eddie seemed more interested in playing keyboards than the guitar.
As far as my comment about no live albums, like I said, that is what people used to say, having never seen them myself, I can't say whether there was any truth to the story or not.
I hope the tour works out for them; I doubt I will be seeing them, as I am sure that the tickets will cost more than I am willing to pay. I saw the reunited KISS a few years back (geez, I guess it's been like 8 years) and that cost $80.00 a ticket. I imagine these tickets will be substantially higher.

I'm not as much into this stuff as you guys (translation: I'm not as OLD as some of you) but my very first ever CD purchased was VH...I can't remember which one now but I have several of them.

LOL! I'll admit it, I am older than many people on this board. "1984" came out during my senior year in high school (class of '84 :) ), there were no CD's yet; it was available in vinyl and cassette, and I couldn't even tell you what VH album was the first to be put out on CD.
Re: Woohoo for Van Halen!!!
Well I saw Van Halen in 1981 at Madison Square Garden and DLR was the best front man there was. He held the crowd in the palm of his hand. The big difference with Dave is they were always borderline out of control! Thats what made them so unique and semmingly on the verge of a train wreck. This was why there music and live shows were so full of energy. Sammy is technically a much better singer BUT they became predictable and controled, the songs were straight foward, no surprises. When VH first came out they were unlike anything before them and Dave and Eddy were both on the edge, thats what made them great! I was 14 when the first record came out and when people heard eruption it was unlike anything ever heard before. Frank Zappa once sais about Eddy "It's great to hear somone can playing cutting edge guitar in the 80's. Long Live the original Van Halen!

Thanks. Now, why don't you give me a paper cut and squirt some lemon juice on it.
Re: Woohoo for Van Halen!!!
Aerosmith was a pathetic terrible sounding band when I saw them (I won't say the year but front row center was $24 and Nugent was an opening act for them).
Aerosmith SUCKED live. Nugent blew them off the stage.
I saw Van Halen during their 1984 tour. Not too impressed with DLR.
Ozzy and Rush both sounded better live than DLR.
One of the best moments I have seen on stage was when Jimmy Page bowed his guiter with a smoke and laser show. Very good.
Enough now. I am sounding old right about now.
