Do you know what the ingredients are in "stall dry". It sounds great, but I am worried about using it on rats my snakes with be eating. Is it completely non toxic if ingested?
Re: Vanilla in water - my experience
Stall dry is diatomaceous earth (microscopic diatom skeletons) and clay. It's all natural and quite safe.
Re: Vanilla in water - my experience
stall dry is awesome. i too now clean because the cage is dirty and not just because it stinks but isn't really very dirty. it cuts waaaay down on the ammonia smell. :gj:

i was a auto watering system.. vanilla would seem like a good idea.. how often does the filter get clogged.. is it still worth it?

How much do you put in the bottom of their tubs? I just checked a feed store by me and they said it was 12.00 for a 44lb bag. I am just wondering about how long it would last me if I was using it in 12 tubs a week(cement mixing tubs). If this really does work like you say it might help me out a lot. I don't have very good ventilation in my rat room so by the end of the week the smell is pretty potent.
Re: Vanilla in water - my experience
I put about a half inch of the stuff on the bottom of the tubs.. more for tubs with more rats, less for tubs with just one or two.
