Hi Tommy! Welcome to BP.net! :handshake

Nice lookin' snake you got there!

You need to watch both of those temps on your thermometer. Place the whole unit inside the cage on the cool end (I just prop mine up in a corner) and then place the probe on the warm side. Tucked under the warm-side hide is a good idea. You want the temps to be 90-94 on the warm side and 80-84 on the "cool" side.

If you find it difficult to heat sufficiently through the substrate without heating the glass to dangerous temperatures, just reduce the amount of substrate you're using. They only need a thin layer of it to absorb wastes.

    He Ate!!!
last night was his first feeding. according to his records, he hasnt been fed since jan 30th, (they told me to wait a lil over a week, due to the stress of a new home and everything). i put the pre killed rat pup (that i also got from the breeder at time of purchase) and he wouldnt eat at first (in a seperate tupperware). so after about an hour of him in tupperware, i took both the rat and the snake and put them in the cage. i know im not "suppose" to feed him in the same cage, but i handle this guy several times a day, so i dont think one feeding every 10 days is gonna cause him to think that my hand is a mouse everytime i reach on there...i hope haha

heres some pics. ps- he ate this guy about 8 hours after i put him in there...normal?

Um...is your warm side really at 99.3 (as it shows in the pic of your accurite)?? If it is, you DEFinitely need to get that down into the 90-94 range. 99.3 is really too hot. That might be why he's spending so much time on the cold side.

not anymore. i added more newspaper to the bottom, and now its around 90...until i get a dimmer.

the cold side is around 80, and he still sits on his hide? when i pick him up, he feels straight up COLD
