May sound like an ass, but i'd rather have them chew on a probe then one of my babies. I admit feeding live from time to time(and it is a choice) for my balls are very finicky sometimes, but it makes me very jittery, I sit and stare like a hawk until little buddy completely swallows. I had a bad experience with a local pet store way back when I was still fairly new and green to snakes, I showed up one day about 10 mins before they were to open and when they opened I went straight to the reptile section, no one had been in there prior to me that morning, and when I looked in on their ball python(yes one, I live in the middle of nowhere) the majority of its scales were gone, and there was a mouse sitting in the back on the substrate, very freakish vision for a young guy who just assumed snakes would not allow that to happen to them.

resembled this (warning disturbing pictures, first set, also pics of some birth further down, and a good reason not to house different snakes together, even same sized ones.)

now I am not saying they were left in there for a long length of time, but being in there long enough to chew through the probe could still do some damage.

I had it happen once (he snuck behind the hide and got it while I was sitting right there) and I spliced the wire back together and it works just fine. I might not have know if the temp didn't suddenly read "Lo". I have the outdoor probe stuck to the plexiglass over the flexwatt, so taking it in a nd out isn't practical. I keep the wire buried in the reptibark, so I haven't had much other problems.

Yesterday was feeding day and well #4 Acurite thermometer's wire got chewed on by the stupid rat and bit the dust. Yup I've lost 4 of those things in less then 6 months because of a chewy / nosy rat. :angered:

Any one else have this problem?
If not, then what are you using and how do you have your's set up? :confuse::weirdface

We want to stress that boids normally doesn't fit in the prey pattern of Boa constrictor snakes. This was surely an isolated case and an absolute exception. Normally you don't need to be afraid when you
house your Boa constrictor along with other boids.

Anyone else see a problem with this?
