Both of the filters plug into the phone jack. There's a large one, thats about as big as someones hand, and a smaller one about 1/3rd the size. Both you plug both the phone line, and the dsl line into.

This has happened in the past, around 6-7 months ago, and started back up again. It lasted a good month or so before, and has been going on for around 3 days now.

Sounds like an ISP or phone company problem. Hardware problems rarely (if ever) fix themselves for several months and then come back again. Did you change anything recently such as install a phone or have you had any power outages?

I've setup several offsite "classrooms" as well as home users with DSL and I've never once heard or had to plug "two" filters into any of the lines. Unless there is something different in your area the line going to the dsl modem doesn't need a filter...keep in mind I said "unless there is something different in your area". I don't know that having multiple filters on lines going to your phones would affect anything but again sounds odd to me.

There are lots of different things it *could* be poor copper wire quality either in your house or even outside that the signal is required to travel. Could be a faulty modem or network card in your computer. It could indeed be a problem with equipment in your area. Your best bet as much as even I hate to do it is to call in and report all your issues. If multiple people are calling from a specific area with issues the better chance you will have of some field techs getting on it and troubleshooting.

It doesn't have 2 filters that it has to plug into. It only has one filter. It came with some smaller ones, and a spare larger one to use. I tried the spare, as well as the smaller ones with no luck. I'm not sure whats going on but it sucks. I can't get onto anything. It takes forever just for a webpage to load if it is connected. My dsl is running slower than Dial-up right now :( It's a SpeedStream brand Modem.....can anyone suggest anything else, or know of anything else that could be going on with it?

Sorry to hear your still struggling, have you called your provider yet? The worst thing you can do is sit around and expect them to fix an unknown problem. If they give you the run around...keep calling and reporting the issue. If you have to tell them you are considering dropping the service because it is unusable do so!
