maybe you shouldn't turn the lights off in the tank if the room is mostly dark, but as long as there is some amount of ambient light in the room the fish still get a day/night light cycle. someone explained it to me like this: in nature fish do not live in clear, highly lit water sources. they live in algae filled ponds, dark marshy waters, etc. yes, they still get some sunlight filtered through but it is nowhere near the amount of light that they get from an aquarium light.

Eh, Al G. (his name) is fine. He is hardly ever visible in the 125, because we have rocks and things that he lives under. We see him about twice a month, it seems; for awhile I was actually unsure if he was even in there anymore! But he is almost like a treat for us to get a glimpse of.. he is a very "paranoid" fish who will come out for two seconds and flee back into his cave.. now, I would definately not put him in any other tank; like I said, he did go after my goldfish..

i like the siamese algae eaters. unfortunately i can't get them anywhere locally and they just don't seem to ship well. i've ordered them several times and always lose all but one or two either in shipping or within the first 24 hours. :(

This one was just a local petshop find. I hate it when you're shopping around for fish, don't see what you want, and then it gets ordered in the next week. :/ I usually just order what I want custom frrom my friend, but lately money is a little more of an issue and I don't like to "stand her up" and not have the $$ after she orders me something.. :(
