Re: New to Bp's and the FOrums!
Alright, heres an update. I got my little guy's tank to constantly hold the proper temperatures! Oh, and his new name is "Rebel"! So im going to give him about one more day of good alone time before i try to feed him again.
But, i would like some thoughts on a problem i have been having with the way my tank is setup. My two heat sources are an UTH on the left side of the tank, 82 Degrees "cool side", and a 50 watt Heat lamp on the right side which keeps the temperature at 91 Degrees. MyQuestion is that i have seen many times on the forums that Bp's seem to like some sort of Day/night schedule. The way my heat sources are setup now, if i try to do a day/night lighting schedule then the temps on the hott side will drop from 91 to something like 76 at night.
I am assuming that proper temps are more important than a Day night schedule. Therefore i haven't been turning off the heat lamp at night. However, i would like to know if this is a correct assumption.
could investing in an infared light help my situation?
Thanks,
Sean
Re: New to Bp's and the FOrums!
A simple black or red light would work. From what I understand, Ball Pythons are unable to view that spectrum of light so they would only benefit from the heat.

Re: New to Bp's and the FOrums!
Update, He ATE! woot.
Today was his first feeding with me. After about 4 days in the dorm he finaly ate a small hopper. I now know that the little pinkies were way too small. The hoppper should keep "Rebel" nice and full till next week.
Thanks for everyones help and advice!

Re: New to Bp's and the FOrums!
Oh, one more question. I have one extra live hopper with me now. What would be the best thing to do to save him for next weeks feeding?
Should i try to keep him alive? I would perfer this if he wont make the room stink :).
Or should i freeze him for later?
