Just use the spray bottle to push her head down to the bottom of the tub and hold it there ... then with your other hand you can manipulate the animals body ... with 500+ animals I have more than a few that need a little extra special handling ... the only times I get bit is when I reach in a cage while paying attention to something else (which is at least a dozen times a day ... LOL).

My adaptation: If you have a snake that's gung-ho about leaping out at you, either thinking you're food or wanting to bite your hand off, you simply tap them lightly with something (bottle, etc) and they recoil, seeing that you are not offering food; then you unobtrusively pick them up (I never grab for the head or neck; I scoop them up from their coils.) Ginger will literally shoot her head/neck out of the rack; now, if I were dropping in a p/k rat for her and she was catching/coiling, that would be fine; but I do not want this happening ::again:: with my hand!

See more words of wisdom from the man on the mountain. I have been using a hand towel or bath cloth to cover her up and scoop and lift to take her out that calms her down till she see's movement and then it's off to the races again. LOL

it's the spunky one that keep it intresting.

This is a good idea too; I use this method more often with my BCI.. it makes your hands seem less like prey items and more like part of the environment, like a branch or a shrub or something.

It also touches them all over and they get the feeling of being covered. Plus if they do bite teeth go in cloth and not skin

I love the look you get when you first open the tub. Mine spring out and come toward me and you have to decide if the are gonna snap at you or just coming to see whats going on. Some times you never can guess.....
