Mine includes a pinch of cinnamon. And a Doctor friend told me that the best cure for a common cold was lots of alcohol taken internally. His words: "If it doesn't cure the cold, you won't care any way."

    Feel better.

Cold ease / cold reduce or a zinc suppliment also help in shortening the durration for most colds.

You know the only problem with my granny's cure is that to this day I cannot drink or even stand the smell of rye whiskey. To me it's the smell of being sick and medicine LOL.

Don't use rye. I use Jameson (Irish Whisky) in mine. (a little on the expensive side, but it is really smooth.)

I have heard of people using vodka in their Toddys.

BTW, my wife does not drink any form of alcohol, for the same reason.

The last cold I had was a doozy - my co-worker told me to pick up some Peppermint Schnapps - I was willing to try anything at that point to be able to breath, nothing over the counter was touching this cold.

Bought the Peppermint Schnapps, poured a bit into a shot glass and liked to die. That had to be the nastiest stuff I've ever tasted (next to Jager). Didn't do a thing for me but burn on the way down and make me queasy. It's still in my freezer, with only one shot ever taken out of it.

Mine are either a fever, migraine (I am useless on those days..) or a horrifically upset stomach that has ya running into the bathroom every 5 minutes (thank the stars that this is not happening now...)
Those are my reasons for calling in. I've also used sick days for recovery from surgery. I've also called in sick before because every time I moved the world would spin and I was dizzy. There was no way I could drive to work or really manage to keep my balance.

I actually ran out of sick days, personal days and used vacation days for illness, doctor apt's, and hospital tests. I had surgery twice last year, and they're still trying to figure out the whole abdomen pain/nausea thing.

    I'd like my life back.

Sorry about that; your health and the health of your loved ones, is really the only importnt thing in life; you can't buy health when it comes down to it, I guess.
