Re: Simple pleasures
What a great topic
A few of mine
Playing with my kids 3 and 2 years old. There is nothing that can reduce stress more than here my kids laugh hysterically.
Taking them out during the summer to find lizards and snakes (its pretty safe, nothing venemous here in North Idaho). As well as fishing.
Reading them stories and watching movies.
at night I like to drink coffee and read, I read ALOT. Or watch TV with my husband.
I also love waking up before anyone else does in the morning and drinking coffed aby myself. But with my kids that lasts about 2 minutes lol

Check your pockets after they do that hon. Sometimes your last $10.00 or the car keys have "mysteriously" disappeared LOL (j/k)

Re: Simple pleasures
What a super awesome thread. :)
Here are a few of mine..
The feeling of warm soil under my hands in the springtime, when I am planting the garden. Some people wear gloves; I just think that the moist fertile soil feels and smells so good, I could never wear gloves. I am so nutty, I go to my mom's and sister's and help them plant their gardens too! This is a Great way to bond with your family.. plant a tree; trade veggies; super.
Walking up the back farmroad toward home, after a long nature hike with Mark. It's weird, in the summer evening, how there are cool spots of air, then you feel normal again, then it'd cool.. as the cool air creeps up from the gullies and creekbeds out back.. seeing the horses spend their nights out, after being let into their stalls for grain and an hour of rest.. the smells of horses, thawing earth, hay being harvested.. I would die without it.
On a normal day: that feeling, after getting home from work and looking after all of the animals; there is an indescribable feeling of accomplishment..

Re: Simple pleasures
Some of my simple pleasures are having quiet time with my husband. We rarely get much time together and spending all day, every day with kids and no other adult to talk to can be quite frustrating.
My other biggest simple pleasure is gardening...which I can't do right now. :(

Re: Simple pleasures
- First big gulp of a fresh beer.
- Deciding that oh yes, I will have sushi today for lunch.
- Holding Carmen with her head on my shoulder and feeling her body relax. =)
- Talking about our mutual days at work with Rick when neither of us have anything negative to say about it.

Nothing better than watching a boiling sun go down! :D

Re: Simple pleasures
I like drawing up a nice hot bath complete with bath fizzies and bubblebath and just soaking in it for an hour.
I also love to put my bunnies in thier out side playpen and just watch them frolic, eat grass, dig, and interact with one another.
I love to go herpin on Mt. Misery at Valley Forge ntl park, in early spring. As I ascend the mountain, the air is crisp and clean, the forest is thick with new growth, the young sprouts cover the forest floor like a thick green carpet. The only noises I hear are the twittering of the birds and the slight rustle of the leaves from the trees high up in the forest canopy. there is a beautiful stillness in the air, that you just can't find anywhere else. Once in awhile, as i continue to ascend up the mountain path, a deer jumps up suddenly from beside a log or tree, as I have startled it, not knowing it was there.

Re: Simple pleasures
- The smell of my wifes hair in the morning before she wakes.
- Fly fishing late in the Afternoon hopeing a fish will rise.
- Smoking my pipe in front of the fire after Christmas dinner late Christmas Eve.
- The way my Grandmother smells when she hugs me.
- Puppy breath.
- A warm marshmellow, roasted while camping in the fall.

That first big gulp after a long day of work is always incredible...
ahh! now I want sushi! I'm the same way, all i have to do is think about it and I'm stopping by the nearest sushi bar on the way home...
This is what I always order when I go in... and it's only $20!!!

Ok, I know I'm pretty pathetic for taking this picture but... If you really love sushi then seeing this thing come out of the kitchen is beautiful sight!!!
