Luck has nothing to do with how well you keep animals...so that says you are doing a great job with your current animals. If you don't have the money the choice should be easy, make the best choice for you none of us can gauge what you may call low funds ;)

    Hope this helps. :sunny:

Sorry I didn't go into further detail, but when I said that, I meant to have extra money in case of RI or other problems. I was looking at it from a business view of having extra capital for when needed and not spending the very last dime just because you can afford the snake. :)

She seems pretty large, I would guess her to be around 4ft?

Maybe you would like to buy a baby/youngster?

Wouldn't want to come home one day and find your snake in the process of swallowing your kid. :O :P no j/k ;)

ps. those round cages for snakes in the background don't seem like such a nice place to live =-(

Hi, actually I have 4 06 pythons, a female ringer, male pastel and the spider pair, so I wanted a breedable female, not a baby. Maybe I can start doing something earlier this way, not in 2-3 years. She was a captive bred animal, and very well taken care of. She is 2050 gms. Her previous owner was a co worker of the manager of the store, and he says he takes great care of his snakes. She is so gentle, and he gave me a great deal on her. Don't worry :D they only keep the babies in those little round deli cups. He had her in the back in a big sterlite. I have bought 5 snakes from them, all are doing great! I'll post better pics of her later.

I am not saying anything negative towards yourself here.If that pet store is keeping ANY snakes in delicups until the sell they would NEVER see a dime of my money. How do they have water and somewhere to hide to feel safe or how do they get heat? All three of these are VERY important when it comes to any snake.I understand if they were at a reptile show but they are not.The pet stores will say anything to make a sale. She is a very nice looking girl(i question this also) and if it was myself i would walk out of that store and never return.

ultimately isn't it your choice? some of us would never buy breeding stock from a pet store, we prefer to get our stock from someone like kara or adam etc - so we know we are starting with the very best.

some don't care where the animals come from as long as they are male or female depending on what they need for breeding at the time.

(and of course there are lots of different 'standards' in between)

doesn't make one way right or the other wrong... just different standards is all.

so... look at your own standards and then make the decision of "ya i'll add her to my breeding stock" or "no, i'll pass on her as she doesn't meet the standards i want for my future clients"

    ;) hope that helps?

wow that seems kinda harsh considering you don't even know the details here joe. :colbert: one of my favorite pet stores keeps some cornsnakes/kingsnakes in little plastic containers... with paper towel in it to hide under and a little water dish cut from the bottom of bottled water. the store is kept nice and warm for them and they do just fine till they are sold. which, by the way is usually pretty quick... in and out.

others who need higher temps are kept differently... but all in all... depending on how fast they turn their snakes over... may depend on how they keep them.

and that cabinet looks like a contained space... perhaps it keeps the temps nice and warm?

obviously, i don't have any answers, only questions since i've never visited the store nor have i ever spoken to the owner or employees. making rash judgements really is unfair joe.

Well, update, Thanks for all the helpful comments, I did buy her, fell in love with the snake as an individual, not just a breeding prospect, :P She is captive bred ,and the place , as I said before, has nice animals. I have bought 5 , this #6 from them. Here she is!

I think you have been given sound advice. If you decide to give this one a miss there will always be others, just as nice and just as cute. One thought is that it may be more fun for your Daugther, if she got a yearling and she raised it herself.
