Regarding the comment above about Nicaraguan boas in petstores;
Is this a rare thing to occur?
I bought the snake in a store in Denmark near the German border. Ive been there a couple of times and they got alot of "out-of-the-ordinary" animals in there. I really wouldnt be too surprised if it was a Nicaraguan or a cross of some sort. Unless you guys mean its quite impossible(?).
She is easy to handle and she is very curious about her surroundings. Im fascinated with her colors and those eyes are amazing.. if this was a human girl I think I would be in love! :P I am very happy I went for this one instead of a carpet python, theres just something about Boas.. :thumbsup:
I am somewhat worried though, after examining her very closely it seems she has had a bad shed. There are some leftover skin on her body, tiny fragments. I have made her a perfect plastic container home. Temperatures are what theyre supposed to be and humidity is between 55-60%. Is there anything I can do for her regarding this skin? Just make sure the humidity is a little higher when she has her next shed?
Thank you very much for helping out :)
CA=central american
When she comes into shed again, bump it to 70 at least if she has excess skin already. Give her a water bowl big enough for her to fit in also. I misted my tank today that houses a small het albino male and humidity was up to 74% and he still chose to lay in his water dish. No mites, temps are around 80/91 with 3 hides to choose from to get a good thermal gradient
Re: Another locality question
That sounds like a plan :)
I have only had her for four days. I guess she needs a while to get used to her new cage, but lets presume she has been fed live mice when at the petstore. I only have dead rodents for her. There is supposed to be a caresheet on snake feeding? I couldnt find it in the caresheet section, does anyone know where to find it?
If not, maybe someone could give me some quick pointers as to how to convert her to feed on dead.
Thanks.

what i did was p/k the mouse and throw it in there and poke at it with a hanger. What type of enclosure is it? In my tubs I grab it by the tail and open the tub with the snake at the back of it and dangle it. I have also held a small sheet of paper in one hand and dangled it by the tail and covered my hand with the sheet. I only have 1 or 2 snakes out of 7 that will eat a mouse or rat that is just laying there not moving

In addition, the p/k rodent may have to be warmed up if it has been dead long enough for it to cool. The best way is to use a hair dryer on it or put it under an incandescent heat lamp for a few minutes. I know that my boas/pythons will not eat it cold, although colubrids tend not to care.
Re: Another locality question
a hair dryer is my choice
Re: Another locality question
Excellent suggestions guys! I will try to feed her tomorrow :)
My gf got her new camera out to take a pic of Magma today:
