GTP... a few questions!?

I would personally prefer an emerald tree boa myself, but to answer your question... :

The tank should be about a 3 ft high so it is higher up and not as much ground surface because they spend most time up on the branches of a tree ETC. They tend to be real nippy but handling tames it and they will eventually calm down. An automatic mister is okay from my experiences. They like the humidity high but heat at the same time. I hear they get burned from lamps being right up to the glass / mesh of the top of the cage so i suggest you set it at an angle.

I was on a diff. site and some guy was telling me it would be too hard to heat a 3 foot high cage, and I asked him what height I should use but he didnt reply yet! I could maybe see a 2 1/2 but any smaller and soon it will be more of a BP cage!
any suggestions?? I was just gong to use 2 heat lamps day and night! I cant really see any problems with that?!?!?

Heat lamps + GTPs = no good

These guys require a very high, stable humidity to thrive. Using light bulbs as your heat source will dry out the air considerably.

You might want to look into using radiant heat panels (attached to the wall of the cage near a perch), they would be safe to use inside the enclosure, as they do not heat up to dangerous levels when controlled by a good thermostat (Helix, herpstat). A lot of GTP guys swear by those things, so it's something to look into.

Oh, my bad. I thought you could use heat lamps.

Understand the difference between WET and HUMID. Having a constantly wet cage can become a breeding ground for bacteria that will ultimately harm its inhabitant. Humid air is something else, which is what you are going for.

Glass is hard enough to maintain for an animal more tolerant of low humidity (ball pythons) and I certainly wouldn't recommend using a glass tank for a GTP. There are many alternatives commercially (Animal Plastics, Vision, etc) and home-made solutions as well.

I will get some thick gloves right!?!
I'm a little nervious about gettin bit but I'm expecting it to happen more then once! Has anyone gotten really hurt from them big teeth?? It pictures they look pretty big and deadly?!?!

GTPs are certainly not deadly...but they are capable of and relatively more likely to bite when compared to other species. GTPs are also relatively fragile when compared to other terrestrial pythons so care must be given when removing them from perches for handling, cage maintenance, etc.

Sounds like you are on the right path, just make sure you research research research (don't just take the advice on here) and be prepared to spend a good hunk of change on a proper setup and a quality CBB animal.

I personally have 2 GTP and an Emerald. I have found that the Exo-Terra tanks work great as well. I have taken a piece of glass from a picture frame and mounted it over 1/2 of the screen top, with my HEAT LIGHT on the otherside. I have a Large Exo Terra waterfall w/fogger and it keep the humidity up about 80-85%, plus I can use bark as a substrate, and with a little water you can place a light beneathe the tank and warm it up that away as well. to cool it off of the evening it just turn of my over head heat light and the temp drops from 85 down to about 78.
Granted I had to build me a stand to use the undertank light, but it works great. from time to time before a shed you will often see them laying on top of the bark. When I first saw this is flipped out and rushed them to the vet , but he said that it was probably just to help with the shedding. They all checked out fine.
