I'm sorry Ed, I didn't see where the OP said that she was in a rush or trying to "get ahead"? My bad ... I was just giving my opinion that if a person really is having that much trouble deciding, with the way prices come down every season, waiting a little longer and saving some extra cash would open up a whole new world of possibilites as to what morphs might become affordable.

    Didn't mean to offend.

I am probably going to go with the Spider after all, for the investment reasons. This is something I would really like to get as soon as possible, to give myself a little more of a headstart toward bees..
At first, I was thinking, everyone seems to be getting Spiders.. I was afraid that they were becoming too common to be worth investing into, but I just adore how awesome the Bees look, and I will just about jump through the roof the day I can hatch out one of those babies! And as for Spiders, I think that in themselves, they are just super sweet looking snakes; I actually never thought I'd be affording one this soon, but finances are looking good and, well, I just bought Mark a $900.00 pistol, so this is only fair. ;)
Here's another thing you guys/gals may be able to help me with.. I see a lot of ads on the classifieds, that state that their '06 females "can be ready for breeding next year." This really seems outrageous to me; my girl Bela is an '03, and she is just this year up to breeding size.. how can you breed females that are yearlings, without being an obvious power-feeder? I definately would never powerfeed, just wondering. unless they were veeery early '06..?

It is a lot cheaper and quicker to produce visuals if you get a spider over the albino. You can use the money from the babies you produce to buy that pied.

edit: how big are your females? since you already have the females, get an 06 male spider that will more than likely be ready next year

You know, I did the math, and for my purposes I really do think that a male Spider would be the best choice now. He will be ready next year, versus waiting for a female that'd take 2 years.. and since the pied is our real goal here, we could hypothetically use the funds from selling next year's Spider sale profits for that female pied.. get a male het pied..
I am not doing it for money; I am doing it for the pied. It is my favorite morph, but also Mark's; he really wasn't all that into BP morphs until I showed him that one, and Bam.. but I am into the higher-priced, higher-white Pieds..

if you really like pieds, then make pieds your goal and go for it. nothing wrong with the het route, if that's not for you, that's cool too. i personally wouldn't get a spider now if your reason is to breed it to make money for the pied. take your 1k and save it and save up more for next season's babies, you might be into a pied sooner than you think, maybe. think about the time to raise a spider up, breed him to females, lay eggs, raise up and sell babies! imo, by or before that time you could just buy a pied.

Get a het pied female. That way you start as cheap as possible while still getting started growing her up to breeding size and then in a year or two get a pied male. No possible hets and better odds on producing pieds. And later on if you buy a pied girl, at worst you have a big "normal" girl for a different project.

Just be happy with whatever you choose!
