Re: Newbie Questions
Just wanted to update with a question. I got a thermostat to keep the temperature at around 90 degrees give or take. It's been working fine until today when I got home, the thermometer which has a probe read 100. The thermostat and thermometer both have probes that sit on the bottom of the tank over the UTH. Is there any way to get it to where she cannot move them when burrowing over the heat. I think the temperature keeps changing because she is moving the probe. Any ideas on this? I don't want to use tape because I'm afraid it will melt to the glass.
I did manage to get the humidity right, though, so I'm a step in the right direction, i just need to make sure the UTH stays at a good temp.

You need place the thermostat probe directly on the heat source instead of the inside of the tub where it can move and make your temp shoot up which can be dangerous

Re: Newbie Questions
So, I should attach it directly to the UTH itself rather than the bottom of the tank??, So the Temp probe and therm probe can both go on the outside? Wouldn't that melt them?

Just put the thermostat probe on the UTH and put the thermometer probe in the tub to monitor temp inside.
The thermostat will keep the temperature at a constant level so the UTH won't overheat preventing the tub from melting.;)

Re: Newbie Questions
It's a glass tank though. Does that matter?

No risk of melting glass with a UTH and if you want to have your thermostat to work accurately and not have the temp shooting up you will have to either
Tape the probe in the enclosure and make sure it does not move
or
Place the probe between the enclosure and the UTH if it is possible

Re: Newbie Questions
I think that I can peel back the UTH enough to get the probe under there, or I don't mind taping it down, but would the tape melt?

No. Even if the UTH was on max, it takes a temperature much greater than 120ºF to melt tape or even a tub.

The thermostat will keep the temp where you set between 90 to 94 so it won't melt or burn anything above it this is what it is made for
Just tape it in the enclosure right above the uth, it will be less trouble and the temp will be stable and won't shoot up anymore as long as the probe does not move again so tape it well;)

Re: Newbie Questions
I'll do that then! Thanks everyone!
