I disagree.If you leave the male with the females(1 or more still the same) to long without a break between females he can kill himself do to to much action.Sorry but its the only way i can get my meaning thru and still be family freindly :) .I know people last year that lost Majoves,spiders and others due to over doing the male.I do a three days with a female then three days by himself(i offer them food at this time),then the male goes with another female 3 days then out.It is still early in the season so dont push your males or you could learn a costly lesson.

The cooling them down is not always needed,just like some breed them all year round.

I've noticed with our breeders, that if a male hasn't locked up with her after three days or so, he usually won't that time around. Give him a break for a bit, and try it again the following week. Most importantly, be patient! I know it is exciting to be breeding for the first time, but they will go when they are ready. It may be tomorrow, or it may be in March. You have the benefit of putting all of your male's breeding effort toward one female though, so odds are in your favor as long as she is developing follicles. Keep us updated on them!

I agree with Evan, our male pastel Blaze had not been locking up with the two females we were rotating him through, so we gave him some time off. We paired him again this last Thursday, and Saturday we saw a lock up. He had gone 5 cycles through the two females before we saw a copulation. It is possible we missed one before, but I think the break may have been what he needed. Maybe a break from the stress?? But anyway it seems to have worked.
