I don't think thats an accurate statement. The internal temp of a human body is 98.6 degrees (on average). The outside of the body is much cooler. Plus extremities, such has a hand, are even cooler yet. So just because something feels warm to the touch does not mean its over 98 degrees. In the terms of the snakes viv I'd stick with trusting your temp gauge.

The Digital Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer/Hygrometer won't break the bank either-- I bought mine for about $12 at WalMart.
It measures the Humidity/"Indoor" heat with the unit itself and the probe can go on the opposite end of the enclosure to measure the "outdoor" temp. It measures the temps simultaniously, so you know if your hot and cold sides are good AND it tells you a fairly accurate humidity reading.
Not bad for $12 :)

I agree with this. According to my (oh so handy) temp gun, my hands which are usually warm, are 90.1degrees. My younger sister's hands are 83 degrees. So unless you plan on feeling the tank with that place under your tongue or your armpit (then add one degree), I think the important thing is that the tank never feel cool to you. I wouldn't go by touch alone of course. You absolutely need a thermostat and a thermometer/hygrometer, just keep that in mind when holding the snake or messing in its cage. If it feels too cool, you may have issues.

Ha, that's funny- I just heat-gunned my hands out of curiosity (they're usually cold) and voila! 67 degrees. Who knew?

Wow thanks yall.
I took her to the vet this morning. She's got a clean bil of health and is now tick free. She gave me some pretty clear instructions on the proper care and handling, as well as doing all the hard work herself (the vet that is).
I have cleaned the tank thoroughly, and keep a super close eye on the situation. "Keep my eye on the ball" get it?
Anyways, I'm gonna get a better therm/hygro setup tommorow too. Thanks again for all the help, I'll post some pics soon! Oh yeah the vet said that she was a female for sure, and told me about the possible unfertile eggs that may produce.
And I am defintely going to up the meals to once a week, if Akooma wants too. I want my girl big and strong.
Thanks again.
