Good luck with the new addition by the way.

I agree. My male was pretty wired when I first got him and he calmed down a lot since then but still watches me like a hawk. Just keep trying. Eventually she should calm down and be the lap snake most BCI are

    Hi Cristina,

Is it a hog island boa? They are naughty opinionated snakes! Drake (my hog) looooves to hiss. It's kinda like a kitten meowing with them... they don't mean anything by it, just a way to communicate, especially when they know you are about to put them back into their enclosure! They loooove to be out and they looooove to go UP!

But be forewarned... they are naughty snakes! :P

well once she's settled in for a week... start with small handlings and i'm sure she'll get used to you. who'd you get her from and what did they say her attitude was before she came to your home?

snakes are really sensitive to vibrations... you don't have her near anything which could cause constant vibrations do you? when i first got my hoggie... i had him on the floor in the living room beside our salt water tank being quarantined... then i read about how vibration can stress them out and the pump on the tank is huge and is constantly vibrating... so i moved him. perhaps there's something near her?

Shes a Rio Bravo Hog..was told shes easily handled...shes in a nice warm room closed off to everyone..when she arrived and i took her put of the bag and did the once over to make sure she was fine she was very curious and a little scared but didnt go to bite me..but now that shes in a tank and I would have to reach in over her I think thats what she doesnt like
