Ick... I didn't run into too many irritable customers, thank goodness. Most everyone was in pretty good spirits. But my managers really irritated me... me and another girl were working the front for eight hours straight. Then I was told to do photo lab as well as run the register, while the manager that told me this went and sat on her butt in the office. Wanted to shoot someone at that point.

I did a little Christmas shopping, took the kids to the park and had pizza for dinner. Overall, it was a very wonderful day. My husband was just soooo sure we'd hit horrible lines, but we didn't. Not even a single person in front of us. I usually wait in line for at least 5-10 minutes on a regular day. The only problems I've had is my silly brother pegging me with acorns. I think he's still getting back at my sister and I for using him as a life size doll when we were little. :giggle: I liked it better when he was much smaller, since now he's like 5 inches taller than I am.

The shopping day after Thanksgiving when most retailers have sales out the wazoo for the early birds. Called Black Friday, because it's one of the best "in the black" days for retailers (as opposed to "in the red").

I had a pretty good day, got up, took Diamond and Sigma (the Canine Assistant with us this weekend) to the dog park to play for about an hour, stopped at the bank, came home, then got Sigma "dressed" to go out (with her pack that identifies her as a working service dog), and she and I went to Weight Watchers, the grocery store to pick up some kitty litter, and then the convenience store. After that, I've been home reading and catching up on some shows that I've taped and haven't had a chance to watch yet.

I worked all night at the vet ER, crazy busy with a lot of patients hospitalized since we'd been open all day T-day too (during a normal week, we're just open nights and weekends).

Finally got all of the patients checked out and transferred to their regular vets; during the 7am checkout time to closing at 8am, the phone rang nearly continously, as due to the holiday number of local vets are closed until Monday and referring emergency calls to us.

Called a courier to pick up a rabies head and take it to the state testing lab, but the courier was not able to make it by before our expected departure time, and the veterinary specialists who share the facility with us, and who normally take care of releasing the head to the courier, were also closed today. So I arranged to drop the head off at another location on my way home and let the courier know to pick it up there.

Started closing the books, and found multiple accounting errors by the receptionist, plus we had a huge number of receipts to tally, since we'd been open through the holiday. Finally got those sorted out, and got a call from the courier that they'd been by the alternate location and of course since I hadn't taken the head there yet, they'd been unable to pick it up. They also asked if the testing facility was open today, so I called the state lab and got a recording that they were closed until Monday. Unpacked the head and put it back in the fridge for someone else to worry about.

Finally left work just before 10am, stopped by the store and got feeders, came home and fed and unwound, went to bed, got up at 4pm and went in to my other job to cover for a kennel tech who'd called in sick during our peak holiday boarding rush. Got home just before 7 and now watching Who Killed the Electric Car which is depressing and frustrating.

I'm -really- looking forward to having tomorrow off. :-)

I worked at JCPenney's during college, in "unmentionables" department. Black Friday sucked...

My work week this week was bad tho...and next week will be worse. I work as a software tech support analyst on the phones and the company released a new version of the software the week before Thanksgiving.

In a normal week, I close between 35-50 calls. This week, in 3 days, I closed over 100. It was INSANE. On top of that, our team is down 3 people that they haven't found new hires for and one guy was sick...so instead of 9 people, we had 5. Ooh and the department just got reorganized and we're living through the "adjustment". :sabduel:  :taz:

Needless to say, I was READY for a couple days off.
