    M.O.,

You bias in respect to Asian Beauty Snakes? No! Never, :D

You will like this, we have the NARBC (North American Reptile Breeders Conference) comming up in Feb right here in Arlington. That is the awesome big show with tons of breeders and snakes. :carrot:

    On my shopping list are

    1. House Snakes any and all as always
    2. A male Het Amel BullSnake prefer a Kingsville TX line one
    3. A nice JCP yep gonna go ahead and get another one
    4. Possibly a Hatian Tree boa if I can find any
    5. A blue beauty of great genetics for large size

That will about fill out my colony and reall get me to where I want to be for my educational shows, etc.

Oooh, lucky!! I'm seriously considering adding a House Snake and a Trinket Snake to my ever growing wish list. :P If not a pair of each. So many irresistable snakes!

But... but... you don't want one of Ma-tsu's VBB hatchlings? :tears: ;)

Not yet, but I expect to this season! :sweeet: I have a short waiting list on my blue gorgon e-mail.

Course that said, I was teasing and would certainly not be offended should you fall in love with the perfect blue at the expo! ;) That's what I did! I'm a big supporter of snakey love at first sight, I just thought I'd give you a hard time, lol. :P

Re: Tai is Growing - What a Beauty--- Snake
My biggest issue with the Asians is I am looking for size. So like my Tai came from a male over 9 feet and a female well over 8. I think he can go close to 10 if I keep him eating like he is.

For my school things I want a few big snakes with out any real monstors so far it has been

My JCP who is doing well
My false water cobra who is now over 8 feet
I think Tai is gonna be huge
I got the new Dumerils Boa
I plan on picking up a Hatian Tree boa they go 8 feet max but consistantly hit 7
I have a few bulls, they are all PIGS so they should all hit 6-7ish

It is funny really but it is easier to get kids to touch and get close to bigger snakes. Part I think is they move slower and the other part is you can like get them to touch the tail with the head a few good feet away as a first step. And with some kids being to grabby I actually am afraid for the smaller snakes.

That said when you have baby snakies let me know,

I saw somewhere on the boards here a post about an 11ft male VBB, but I think he sold... big aggressive boy though! And beautiful! I can't seem to find the post... blarg... Both my beauties were fed every other week before I got them, and I think Neptune's still growing but I'm not sure. He sheds every month. He's over 8ft, but not by much last time I checked. He's hard to measure because he has issues. They eat every week now, except when they're about to shed. In any case, I'll be posting all over these boards when I have babies available for cooing at if nothing else. :D

I've noticed that coloration makes a difference too! The more exotic the size and color of the snake, the less scary they are somehow. My Mom was more intimidated by the earthy colored familiar looking Gomez than by the much longer but more unusual blue Ma-tsu. The more unusual, the less intimidating?

Re: Tai is Growing - What a Beauty--- Snake
I am not sure it is an "exotic looking" issue but rather the shape of the snake. Gomez is a BP right?

If so take my niece for instance, she is 7 and fearless with all my snakes, never feared any of them, big, little, did not matter.

Yet the first time she saw my JCP she had a look of "concern" and "aprehension" and it took some time to get her comfortable with him. Then one day we took her to Petco and she saw some BPs and had the same look.

I honestly think it is the large head in relation to the body that triggers some ancient primal fear (all the vipers have that head). I am not 100% on this but it has only ever been snakes with large head that held her back even for a second and I have seen this with other kids as well.

So that may be it or not I am just guessing on this one. When I asked her why she said she did not know it just "looked a little scary" to her. I figure it must have something to do with the shape overall.

Also I think we need to remember while a BP or even a plain old boa may look common to us, to those who are not snake people they probally look quite exotic.
