    Technical explanation: If I find one that sticks, I'll take it apart, rinse it off real well, and then blast it with canned air - great for removing any bits of bedding or gunk in the apparatus. I've never tried soaking them, but you may be able to use some sort of CLR type chemical to remove hard water deposits if that's the trouble you're running into. We have very hard water up here & I've never had to do more than take them apart & hit them with canned air (or blow on them in a pinch ;)).
