    Mine get to see the natural light cycle in my current setup and all the ones I'm feeding are quite happy to stuff their faces.

    It could ... the animals age along with possible subtle ambient temp fluctuations are also important factors to consider ... it's rarely just "one thing" and typically a combination of factors that play into triggering their instinct to fast.
