I would suggest, male spider, female pastel, and if ya have anything left some norm females (could get a deal if you buy them all from the same breeder). That way you can get bees, and spiders and all that jazz. Good Luck!

a male spider and female pastel would most likely knock out almost all that $2k if not all

    IMO...co-dom, recessive, doesn't matter.

Pick a morph that fits your budget and one you like to look at, because you'll be cleaning doo up for a couple of years before you can even take a second thought at breeding.

For $2k, at this years prices, you've got a lot of options. Pastel, Spider, Mojave, Albino, Hypo, YB...pick one you like the best.

Male? For 2008? Why not think about it until spring at least?

This is some of the best advice that I would give anyone trying to pick something to add to a breeding project. Do some research and go with what you like and not what everybody else says. Don't get me wrong, there are several good suggestions here but in the end, you are the one caring for the snake.

Decide which morph you like the best first... keeping and breeding snakes gets to be harder work, more timely, and more costly. Make sure you really like the snakes you are working so hard for.

If you like one of the super forms of the co-doms, get a pair of those co-doms so you can produce it.

If you like one of the recessive traits the best, get a pair of hets so you can produce it.

    That's my advice... :P :)

Thanks for all the advice. I fell in love with spiders when i first saw them (almost shelled out for one as my first snake, the gf talked me out of it...) and then nearly died of a heart attack when i saw bumblebee's. They are without a questions my favourite morphs. I'm not a fan of many of the recessive morphs although i do like Axanthic but not as much as spiders (prehaps in the future). Tbh i'm not breeding because i want the money, i'm just using it as an excuse to justify to myself why i can spend so much money on them lol (my gf is still unconvinced, but i think shes yielded because of my determination lol).
I'm speaking to a couple of breeders atm and hoping i can get a male spider, female pastel and a normal female for $2000(ish) + $500 shipping. But we'll see, i want too many snakes for my budget really.

Get what you really like even if it take's 2,000 dollar's on one morph.Remember the breeding part come's later and trust me you'll steadily get more ball pythons as you go. I'd start off with recessive morph's.

I agree with this, choose what you love, not what others suggest that you get - which reminds me, I've got someone to call very soon to discuss my next "dream" snake! :D

Male spider and female pastel isn't a bad pair of snakes own... You pretty much stated that the bumble bees are your favorite so why not venture towards purchasing the pair. I'm sure if you talk to a reputable breeder and offer to buy the pair from them they may even give you a *pair* deal as well considering you would be buying the two highend morphs from them. Just make sure that the animal's you purchase are the ones that truly catch your eye or heart. A few people have already mentioned a good point that whatever you go with you will be cleaning up after, caring and looking at for many years to come. Good luck on your purchase and keep us updated on what you decide to do.
