Haha this thread is perfect after I posted on it. I had my E-bay account highjacked and Had to go through a process to get it reinstated. Someone found out my password and put up a G4. Yeah, if I had a G4 like I'd sell that!

2 mornings ago I got up at 5 am to get ready for work and turn on the computer to cruise like I always do. Go to my ebay account and see that there is an item being sold! Thought, What is my hubby selling now! Turns out it was a Motorcycle!!!! Some one had gotten my password and listed! Had to go through all kinds of crap to get it off get refunded the money they charged to list the item, get a new password and have the account froze until ebay contacted me to make sure all was well before the account was active again:eek:

I occassionally buy things from eBay but I haven't sold anything in years. Most of the "stuff" I would sell is garage sale type stuff (old glasses, chipped dishes, blah blah) which wouldn't get much and isn't worth the time and hassle.

Asking .99 cents for a printer just to get rid of it, why not just drop it off at Goodwill? They'll even give you a tax deductible receipt for a higher value...

Anywho...I take eBay with a grain of salt. My worst experience was with what was supposed to be "an original studio still photo" of Humphrey Bogart. I got it and it was a color printer print. But, I returned the item and the seller sent me back my money (although he didn't agree with me that a computer print != photograph).

    HA!

Positive feedback and a complete change of attitude once the printer arrived.
I tried to tell him I wasn't out to screw him. I guess he now believes it.

Yes. Too many hassles and fees. This is the last thing I will be selling on there for a LONG, LONG time.

Not to be finger pointing but if you do that on ebay its actually against the rules people can and will report you and consequences vary. first time probably nothing but repeatedly suspension or total ban.

Plus people know your doing it so might as well just start the listing at a higher price or use the reserve feature.

And getting anyone else to bid on it to raise the value is also a no no..

I can see why that guy would be ticked. I would probably assume the same thing. you were bitter about it selling for so cheap. Cause really you can get any program you want for anything if you know where to look. So he should be able to find what he needs and nowadays with windows XP it does it for you. just plug and go.

Not saying you were cause obviously you sent it but I can see where he WAS coming from.

That said Ebay has wicked deals but you can also get burned...

In the middle of getting burned myself. someone had a reptarium for sale 4' x 3' x 3.25'.... so i'm thinking this thing is huge.. I pay $60 it arrives quickly. but the thing is only 30" x 28" x 16" tiny compared to what i thought i was getting. To make matters worse the corner pieces weren't sent so I can't even put it together. The seller repeatedly says i'm stupid cause I don't know how to put it together and maybe next time I should ask MOM before I use Ebay. He hasn't even acknowledged the size difference issue which to me is the main one.

So we are in dispute with paypal and we'll see how it goes.

Wow! This whole thread makes me glad I've never purchased or sold anything on E-bay.

Ebay has its ups and downs. But when its bad you feel so helpless.

I've gotten some great deals though.

2 UTH zoomed under $30 shipped

    zoomed thermostat under $30

and a bunch of reptile supplies for a good price.

But now i'm changing over to a rack with flexwatt and a herpstat so all that stuff will probably just go back to ebay or maybe just go to my ever growing mountain of herp supplies
