None of the home remedies will kill the eggs and prevent reinfestation. The best treatment is Provent a Mite hands down.

I've never heard of anyone ever using iodine. I have used mineral oil before on my snake but only for temporary relief since it will ONLY kill the adult/sub adult mites. IT WILL NOT KILL THE EGGS. To kill the eggs you will need to buy Provent a Mite. Also just a note, most of the "mite killing" sprays you can find in petsmart and petco are a joke. They do not work, so don't waste your money. Just buy Provent a Mite and be done with mites.
