I'm using Aspen with a couple sheets of paper underneith to aid in the doodoo clean up. Anyway I generally do complete tub clean every Saturday morning. Its possible that by NOT cleaning often enough, this smell could be building up in your enclosure from old feces or urates.

Do you use a tank, or a tub? I love the new tubs we are using w/ the rack; it is SO easy to completely soap the tubs up and hose off in the bathtub. I could never get the phantom smells out of the tanks we used unless I resorted to bleach; then it smelled like that until after I spent a year (seemingly) out in the yard hosing it out..
As for poop, I shovel many times my weight in it daily cleaning up after my four-legged horsey kids. :)

my tubs stink when the snakes peed/pooed, so i look for the droppings, clean it up, and the smell airs out...but opening that tub sometimes can be

Ours never stink, we use sani chips as bedding....but I also find it to be very calming to rack my fingers through the bedding looking to "gifts" and yes I do it bare handed...I have a toddler and a husband....my hands have been in alot worst things then snake turds.

Kind of worried you included the husband in that statement :P Rugrats fair enough but the bigguns are meant to behave.

So unlike the homelife of our own dear queen.

The culprit was a huge pee -- over the hot spot UTH. The top layer of aspen was dry, but underneath was totally soggy. I stripped the terrarium and soaped it down. New paper and aspen in place. He also mad a urates yesterday, so I am glad that I waited one day to do the cleaning.

Everything is nice and clean now! -- No more stink.

From now on if it really stinks, it gets a full clean! Spot cleans are for non-smelly days.

    Thanks all.
