    I would definitely stay away from kerosene. My dad gave me a kerosene heater that I plan to use for emergency heat in the snake room this winter (for power outages). $33 for a 5 gallon can of kerosene that should keep the heater running for 27 - 30 hours. That would get really expensive really fast!
