    Nope, not fleas, mites. They actually do look like snake mites, very very small. Both snake mites and rodent mites can appear different colors depending on when they had their last meal. They look a little bit different under a microscope, but to the unaided eye (or aided with eyeglasses :) ), they look about the same. The bite feels like a very intense itch, verging on burning, then itches like a mosquito bite.

    I've been treating with Provent-a-Mite and Repel Permanone. But if you use these, go easy on them. The mice especially seem to be sensitive to it, and I've lost a few. You can get the Repel at Wal-Mart. Has the same active ingredient as Provent-a-Mite in the same concentration at a greatly reduced price.

    edit - Again, these are NOT snake mites, and won't infect/infest your snakes. They might bite a snake if they get on it, I don't know.
