thats the trick the ball valve part. I bet you probably have a drain near the tanks too dont ya. If it werent for all those buckets (and back aches) it would be a breeze:P
the name come from the fact that the first forum i was ever on was a piranha keeping forum i found while researching before i got mine, then i had started a fish keeping forum of my own, intending it to be more of a local thing to get people around here linked up for trades, etc. Not to long after that i found out there was already an aquarium society in town, so i kinda forgot about the idea, because i saw no need to "compete" with what was already going. The name stuck through a couple different fish related forums im on, the origional piranha one, our local club site, a salt water focused forum, and now here because I dont like having to remember a ton of different names for different sites.:hijackd: again, sorry:rolleyes:

Re: Not like me (something different)
well im in school and still living at home, so drains and fill lines really arent an option for me right now, but one of these days...... . I'll probably be dreaming of a set up like that tonight :P haha
Re: Not like me (something different)
It's not a window; it is actually a "cutout" between the dining room and kitchen. :) something that people used for food serving before I took over the house and used the dining room for snakes/tanks, lol.
Re: Not like me (something different)
Why not get that Python siphon? I use it and it is simple to fill/drain; the biggest part of it is not forgetting that it's filling.. I actually nearly flooded our house a few years back while doing this; came back to find water EVERYwhere about an inch thick; it was draining into the dirt-floor basement through the heating vents...! Luckily it was summer time; but I am more vigilant now.

sounds a little like the way my grandmas tank is set up. Her livingroom and diningroom are more or less one big room that is divided by a built in entertainment center that has counter top on the back of it. Her tank is setting on that counter and can be seen from both rooms.
