Re: Ma-tsu is determined to give you a kiss!
That's Zell, Karen's cockatiel. :) She does her best to be noisy as often as possible! She also only tolerates me when Karen's not around, lol, I'm second best mommy. That's okay, the other critters love me! ;)
EDIT: Oh yeah! And the reason she was spiraling upward at the end is she wanted to know what our Halloween decoration was all about. When I realized what she was investigating I turned the camera back on, then she decided what I was doing was more interesting, lol.
Re: Ma-tsu is determined to give you a kiss!
I love the videos too cute! How old is she? She's very pretty.:)
Re: Ma-tsu is determined to give you a kiss!
Thanks Hannah! She's about 7 years old, and her beau Neptune is about 8. :)
Re: Ma-tsu is determined to give you a kiss!
She's certainly curious about everything LOL! I loved the second vid too. A cockatiel - figures - my caique was brought up with 4 tiels in the house when he was a baby so he has always made tiel noises :D
Re: Ma-tsu is determined to give you a kiss!
I usually let Ma-tsu wander my head and shoulders while I'm trying to clean her cage, and she's so not helpful, lol! So curious and trying to get into everything... takes me twice as long as it should, but it's worth it. ;) Fun!
And lol on the caique! Birds that mimic are fun like that, my pal Amarin once had a canary that sounded like a modem. She was on dial-up AOL at the time or something and got kicked off on a regular basis, so the canary learned the "modem song". It was pretty hilarious! And the canary made it sound pretty cool too, lol!
Re: Ma-tsu is determined to give you a kiss!
:D Our caique did a similar thing with a smoke alarm - we made the error (and regretted it for 6 months or so thereafter) of letting it beep as the battery had run out - now this went on for only about a week - but sure enough, after we fitted the new battery - we still heard the "battery gone" beep for some 6 months thereafter
Re: Ma-tsu is determined to give you a kiss!
*laughs and winces at the same time* Oh, that's awful! How funny! Although better beeping than screaming. Amarin and I were at the feed store the other day and the Macaws were having screaming contests. I felt REAL bad for everybody there. I mean... good lord...
I gotta say honestly though, I cherish the quietness of our bunnies and herps! Zell makes me insane sometimes. "Everything's Okay Alarm!" I'm just not as good with birds as I'd like to be. Bloddeuwedd's curse, birds don't like the owl. I love them at other people's homes, but we don't cohabitate well.
Re: Ma-tsu is determined to give you a kiss!
Yes - insane parrots!! My caique has a certain "alarm" call. The whole house will be peaceful and Charlie'll be looking out the window then a sudden loud screeching bursts out which the dog takes to mean "intruder in garden" alert and will bounce up barking like mad and dash off out to chase off the non-existent intruder. At which point parrot has quietened down and I swear if he had learnt the "haha - fooled you again" chuckle he'd do it!
Sadly I don't think I'm good with birds either ...
Re: Ma-tsu is determined to give you a kiss!
Hookbill chaos!! Yeash! Yeah, Zell freaks out at everything too, like if the front door opens. No matter how often the front door is used, if someone comes in or goes out, she freaks out flapping across the room and scares the hell out of the bunnies!
It's always a relief to hear other people lament their frustrations with their birds, because I have major guilt issues for wanting to rehome Zell sometimes. More often than I care to admit. It's just so hard to work or think when she's calling for Karen all day and attacking the back of my head (apparently, Zell hates my hair).
Amarin amazes me with her bird skillz! Granted, she doesn't do hookbills well either, all of hers are finches, quail, peafowl, doves, and bantam chickens... but still, yeash! It's miraculous! I'm sticking to my nice quiet herps and bunnies in the future... my silent sweeties! :P
