To become a vet TECH and/or probably a variety of other fields in the vet industry....but that doesn't make you a vet. That takes four years of undergrad, plus veterinary school very similar to (and in some ways even more difficult) than what medical doctors go through.

Nope! A DVM degree is a 4 year program, and while a B.S. isn't necessary, it is very difficult to get in without one, and without very good grades and a high score on your G.R.E. I think there are only about 27 vet schools in the country, and acceptance at most is only around %10 of applicants. It's tougher to get into than most Med schools!!! Vet tech. programs are usually about two years though.

Yes, that is what I was talking about, becoming a vet, not a vet tech ;)

If you want to specialize in herps as a vet, it really won't be until your third and more likely your fourth year in Vet school (that's a LONG way off for you  ). Until then, get good grades, take biology courses in high school, go to a college that has a good biology/zoology program, or even better a veterinary science program, volunteer at a vet clinic, get more good grades, get a high GRE score, and be prepared to apply to many vet schools. That should keep you busy until you can apply for a DVM externship in Herps in about 12-13 years :D
